From Glasgow to Melbourne

This St Patrick’s Day, the Melbourne Celtic Festival welcomes Dlù — one of the most exciting young bands coming out of Scotland right now. Five musicians. Gaelic roots. Serious rhythm. Dlù take traditional Scottish music and throw it somewhere entirely unexpected — weaving fiddle, accordion and Gaelic song through funk, disco, deep grooves and the kind of energy that makes standing still a pointless exercise.

They grew up together through Glasgow’s Gaelic School, became lifelong friends and have developed a sound that is unmistakably Scottish, but very much their own. Their music has taken them from the Highlands to some of Scotland’s biggest stages. Now they’re coming to Melbourne. And we think they’re going to fit right in.

It’s the city festival with a country feel

Down by the river, in one of Melbourne’s great hidden-in-plain-sight venues, we’ll be filling the Mission with music, food, drinks, dancing and a few hundred people looking for a good excuse to get together.

Three indoor stages. A historic courtyard. A proper Melbourne pub-style bar. And music running from lunchtime into the night.
